Warm weather is returning to Michigan, and so, too, is the risk from ticks.
Experts say that ticks are not just an “up north problem” in Michigan anymore the arachnids have been on the move out of the woods for years now. Ticks are a growing problem in Michigan, showing up at soccer fields, parks, and even your own backyard.
The blacklegged tick, in particular, can transmit Lyme disease. Tick season is officially here, and Michiganders should keep the arachnids on their radar when spending time outdoors.
Researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston looked at over 10,000 COVID-19 patients and found that significantly more former smokers ended up in the hospital and died from COVID-19 than those who still smoked or had never smoked at all. It will give health departments the ability to push out timely, credible Covid-19 and vaccine information to people in their local communities or state jurisdictions. States will also be able to issue these alerts statewide or to specific cities within their state.
